A Little Story June 22, 1997 I would like to tell you a little story. This story is about a little boy. This little boy has blond hair. Growing up, he went to church every Sunday. His parents always told him that God had chosen a wife for him. He believed that there was one woman that God had picked out just for him. Now, being so young, and naive, he believed his parent's theory. He prayed to God to bring this woman into his life someday, and please make her beautiful.
He grew up through elementary school believing this theory. He kept praying to God for his future wife, and that she would be a woman who loved God. He went to Junior High believing this theory. He kept praying to God for his future wife, and that she would love him second to God. He went to High School believing this theory. He prayed for his future wife, and that she would be loving and kind.
Then, he went to college. There, he tried to test his parent's theory. But no women came. No woman seemed right, or chosen by God. He became very skeptical about his parent's theory. He finally came to the conclusion that there was no "one" right woman. His parent's theory was hogwash. It was not true. How ridiculous, one right girl. He believed that he would just have to guess on his own. But, he kept praying despite his new found belief.
Then, something amazing happened to the boy. A miracle walked into his life on December 13, 1996. Let me tell you about this night. This is the night he met a special girl. Let me tell you about this girl. She was beautiful, loved God, loved the boy, and was very loving and kind. His prayers were answered. Much to his surprise, there was in fact one woman that God had picked out just for him. He could not believe it, because it went against everything he had come to believe. He thought back, and realized that his parents were right all along.
Now, I would like to bring this little story to a conclusion. I would like to reveal who this little boy is, and who the girl is. Have you guessed yet? This little boy's name is Geoffrey Lenning. But you probably know his as simply, Jeff. (That's what he goes by back home, is Jeff.) And the girl's name is Wendy Horton. Let me tell you a little secret. (Shhhh). Jeff believes Wendy is an answer to prayer. A prayer he has been praying for a very long time. |
